Welcome to fractals

fractals is a blogging collective made up of friends in various media writing communities coming together to engage with each others’ work. We are just as much here for each other, as we are here for you. We write about the ways culture and politics interweaves with media, but we also just write about things that completely fascinate us! Maybe that’s a totally obscure game that we can’t get out of our mind, maybe it’s a knocked over advertisement in the grocery store, maybe it’s interviews with our community. Who knows! The point is, all of us have an interest in why the material conditions in our world has produced culture in the way we experience it. That’s why we write about it.

This is why we use the name fractals as well. Inspired by Fractal Expressionism, meaning is created from the messy entanglement of seemingly infinite, yet finite, images. When we write, each of us are finding expression from our own experience to create and share meaning with those around us.

We are still in the beginnings of this collective, but we hope that you stick with us and enjoy what we have to say. Be it on our e-mail list, on Twitter, or just checking in occasionally.
